I dropped my phone into a bowl of soup 😅😅, which caused water damage. I was thinking of sending it to the Oppo Service Centre at Pavilion, but I was too lazy to go there. So, I Googled for a trustworthy phone repair shop nearby. I wanted to visit Tevor but couldn’t find its location. Hence, I went to another chain phone repair shop. After explaining my problem, they told me it was an LCD screen issue and quoted RM 250, asking me to come back at 3 PM.
The first red flag was when they asked for my PIN number. I was really scared because my phone contains a lot of personal stuff. When I called them at 3 PM, they said there was also a motherboard issue that would cost RM 280, otherwise, they couldn’t fix the LCD screen. So, the total would be RM 530. The technician also mentioned it would take at least one week, possibly up to two or three weeks, to fix. Since I needed to travel soon, I couldn’t wait that long and was considering buying a new phone.
Luckily, I got a second opinion and called Tevor. He replied within 30 minutes with a quote after checking my phone. I sent my phone to his shop around 5:30 PM, and he managed to fix it by 8:30 PM for just RM 160. His service was superb, and he explained the problem to me, helping me understand what was wrong with my phone and why some technicians might ask for my PIN number. He never asked for my PIN.
